2013: An entry into darkness

2012 ended on a really rough patch for me, and 2013 holds plenty of darkness for me to fathom as I reach in. I dare not hope, I dare not love, I dare not even live further than this point, but I will try.

I will try my darndest.

This, I dedicate to friends who have seen, and who will continue to see me through.

Fujifilm X - shot through my heart. Also, screw your DSLR.

In the last two years, no other camera manufacturer has captured my imagination more than Fujifilm with their X series of cameras. First, they flirted with us with the decidedly retro-looking, almost ridiculous copycat design of a Leica camera, and put in a digital sensor that gave astounding results. The fact that it uses a leaf shutter that is basically silent makes it one of the best street cameras ever made.

Then what did they do? They released the interchangeable-lens camera called the X-Pro 1. It comes with a brilliant, brilliant X-Trans sensor that's been blowing the minds of many professionals - but it came at a price.

So, the X-E1 came along to slot right in between the X100 and the X-Pro 1. Of course I had to get it. I'm so excited by what's coming out from it that I just don't wanna type any more than I should.

Commoners like me have no need for DSLRs anymore. Ever.

Scattered liberally below are photos taken with my uncle's Fujifilm X100 and my brand new Fujifilm X-E1 with 35mm/f1.4 lens. I won't say which ones are from which camera, because both are AMAZEBALLS (the X100 is half the price of the X-E1 setup, but it's got a fixed lens), and you should get one.
