13 April 2012

The one where I went cycling to a park in town on a Thursday night.

Last night was Thursday night, the night April 12, 2012. It was the night before April 13, the second Friday the 13th of 2012. A dear friend had just witnessed a stranger's suicide in the morning, and he was undoubtedly affected. Me? I was sneezing my brains out for almost the entirety of the day, and busy pondering the mistakes of my life so far, simply because it was Thursday.

Thursday was not a good day.

So we decided to go cycling let out the proverbial steam. I also took some photos to remind myself that there is always beauty in the breakdown.

Here are Thursday night's photos.

As seen from the East Entrance of Gardens by the Bay, the new fancy giant of a park right smack in the middle of Singapore. Gardens by the Bay will be officially open June 29, 2012 and it will connect with the Marina Barrage, which is right beside the main section of 'Gardens'. This is also conveniently connected to the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort where the life-changing casino is. To my family members in Canada and Malaysia, if you're reading this, the Singapore government doesn't call our casinos outright, instead they call them Integrated Resorts. Also, locals have to pay a SG$100 levy to enter; foreigners enter free. These are measures to curb locals from turning into losers like Charlie Sheen who is so not #winning right now.

I've exceeded my quota of braintextjuice on the previous photo so just stop expecting me to write anymore and just see the photograph.

After a ridiculous roundabout from across the river that took us close to half an hour (even on freaking bicycles) due to construction works, we finally got here and lay on the pavement like we just didn't care. No, really, we didn't.

Cousins Tim, Sarah, Jessica, Julia, Kevin! You seeing this? THAT'S A FREAKING METAL BANANA ON TOP OF 3 HOTEL BUILDINGS. What? You want more ridiculous? There's a freaking already-world-famous Infinity Pool on top of that thing. Google it! COME VISIT ALREADY!

As you can see from this photo, I was under two bridges. That's amazing because I say it is, because you can't see the spider that was really right above my camera lens as this shot was taken. I want to tell you what happened to the spider and me, but I won't. All I'll say is Peter Parker shouldn't be so smug right now.

This is where a large percentage of Singaporeans aspire to work at, where a large percentage of Singaporeans actually work at, and where a large percentage of Singaporeans absolutely cannot wait to get out of. This is Singapore's Central Business District. There are way too many hot office ladies here.

Hello and goodbye for now, Internet People! Here's my parting shot to you amidst all the bullshit written in between the opening paragraphs and this, and a reminder that things are never as bad as you make it out to be. Always learn to see things from different perspectives, and sometimes, things will just be really funny on hindsight.

Be well, you.
